Chikugo River Bridge, the only Japan's Lift Bridge

If you are planning to visit Saga, Japan.. then it is a must for you to experience something different in Japan at the Chikugo River Bridge..!This is the only lift bridge in Japan and the bridge can be crossed during 30 minutes from 5 minutes past every hour. It is also lit up at night. At the foot of the bridge is “Bridge Station Doronpa,”there is a shop offering free sightseeing pamphlet and sells local specialties and craft goods.



To get to Doronpa, you can take a Bus Bound for Hayatsue and get off at Shokaikyo-mae  and walk for 5 minutes from the Bus Stop.Or you can just cycle along the cycle road for 5km to Doronpa.It's very beautiful especially when the sakura bloom..!There are stores to shop and place to rest.Usually the Japanese have a walk with their children or dogs around there. You can even buy souvenir at the bridge.Have an ice cream while watching the bridge lifting during summer would be nice too.
