Studying engineering in Japan

PROGRAM KHAS JEPUN, KOREA, PERANCIS, JERMAN (JKPJ)

Assalammualaikum and hola readers.. :)

Since the SPM results announcement are just around the corner, i came up with an idea , sharing about the programme that i'm in for the six years since 2012 till now.For those who are interested in Engineering field (kejuruteraan, sains dan teknologi (S&T) dan sains sosial) and is considering to study abroad (Jepun, Korea, Perancis dan Jerman), the JKPJ by JPA is one of the programme that might interest you.

This programme basically requires you to get an A for 
a) Bahasa Melayu
b) Bahasa Inggeris
c) Matematik
d) Matematik Tambahan
e) Fizik 
f) Kimia   


Facts:
1.Thanks to JPA..!Government scholarship.. with serve government bonding for six years.That's before 2016.Starting intake 2016(if i'm not mistaken), the JKPJ is now like a convertible loan (pinjaman boleh ubah).
2.There's an interview after the application for the scholarship. Be well prepared..!
3.In Malaysia, the scholarship will be around RM5000 for one year, two years will be RM10 000. (for daily use). All the books, fees and everything for study purpose will be paid by JPA.
4.In Japan, for general, the scholarship will be around 13 000 yen per month. More than enough if you're good at savings :)

As for the interview.. for some quick tips.. :
1.Wear the ones your comfortable in. Formal wear. Blazer,baju kurung, Kemeja and etc.(Don't worry, Baju kurung is absolutely okay).
2.Be there early like 30 minutes prior so that you will not be too nervous, and make friends. Talk to someone to set a good mood.
3.Practice and study..!! Improve your communication skills and brush up on the English and Malay language as both of the languages will be used.
4.Don't forget to bring along essential documents like certificates and resume.

Here's the timeline lets say for year 2012...

Result SPM annouces(march 2012)--> apply JPA scholarship (in one week after the SPM results announced) --> interview-->Intake for Ambang Asuhan Jepun, preparation course two years(around June 2012)-->Examinations[EJU & AAJ final examinations] (around November 2014)-->BTN course (early 2015)-->Fly to Japan(around March 2015)--> Japan's University admission (April 2015)--> Study engineering for four years (degree)--> Graduate March 2019..!!!

What to do after arriving in Japan

Congrats to those who succeed to pursue studies in Japan.How's the preparation going on? Bet it was tough and exhausting right.I still remember my first time arrival at Saga Airport,Japan.It was late evening after a long flight from Malaysia to Tokyo and Tokyo to Saga.By the way, when i arrived here, there were so many things to be handled, to be shopped and etc.Starting from the apartment, bank and university...non stop tasks.But still,all of the process were good memories and experience.

1.Get Zairyu Kado
First arrive at the airport,for international student like me, you'll receive a Zairyu Kado(Alien Card/Residence Card) for the period your staying for your studies.The process did took quite a long time as there were many JPA students.

2.Get apartment
If you are not able to book an apartment before your departure to Japan,you can just stay at your friends/seniors/relatives house for couple days.But then get an apartment.For fast and smooth process, you can use the My Home,Lifefull Home and etc to help you to process the apartment arrangement.Do remember, the nearer your apartment to school/university/mall/convenient store, the more expensive your apartment wage will be.

3.Get a bicycle
I got a bicycle first above all the plans so that i can move around easily without spending any yen for the distance that i can reach.Of course you can just simply hop on the bus and get to everywhere but why spend if you can save.Besides you'll need the bicycle for your everyday school life.

4.Get a Hankou
Hankou is a kind of small piece of block that you'll use for formal stuffs like creating bank account and etc.You'll get your name carved in Katakana and the ink pad is provided too.In Japan, they seldom, almost never use hand written signature for important or formal process.Instead,you'll need to use Hankou and stamp on the important documents.

5.Register your address
After getting an apartment,it is time for you to register your address at the City Hall to declare your arrival and where will you live at.Remember to bring along passport,Hankou,Zairyu Kado and all important documents.

6.Create bank account
There are many banks to choose so think carefully and choose wisely.Preferable, the one which closets to your apartment for any emergency.Remember to bring along passport,Zairyu Kado,Hankou and all the important documents too.

7.Keiyaku water,electricity and gas
After entering your new apartment,of course you'll need all the necessity like water,gas and electricity right.Here in Japan, you can simply register them through phone calls.(only in Japanese)

8.Get a phone
Docomo,Au,Softbank,Y Mobile and many more.You name it..! So many telecommunication company to choose with great calling and internet packages.

9.Proceed registration for your studies.
Remember to register and get your student card.Bring along all the important stuffs stated above. Besides, before april(where almost every university starts the studies) might be the best period for you to have a great tour around your new school/university.Explore and check out the cool things you've never seen before.

10.Go shopping
Last but not least,go and enjoy yourself shopping for all your needs before the studies start..!!! Usually for the households, probably the best and cheapest from Daiso if you want to save money.Cotsco might be a good choice for wide range of frozen and prepared food.And yup,Gooday and Direx help a lot for the diy.

Anyway, getting comfortable and used to the Japan life might takes time but trust me, if you'll love Japan when the time passes.Just enjoy yourself here and explore as many as you can.

Ambang Asuhan Jepun(AAJ)

Siapa nak study dekat Jepun???!!Me me me!!!! Masa dulu dulu lepas akak mohon scholarship JPA tak tahu pun pasal ambang asuhan jepun ni. Siap gigih google BIASISWA LUAR NEGARA,BIASISWA JPA, BIASISWA STUDY KE JEPUN and mcm mcm lagi. Bila dah keluar result Jpa(mohon Jpa dlm tempoh seminggu lepas result spm keluar, keputusan dapat ke tak keluar dalam bulan lima ke enam mcm tu),baru dapat tahu kena buat preparation dekat ambang asuhan jepun,University of Malaya.Dah la masa tu dah masuk PASUM,terkejar kejar la nk keluar dr Pasum ,masuk AAJ pula.

Okay, what is AAJ?
Usually, sebelum kita fly ke luar negara untuk study, kita kena ada preparation especially bg yang nak pergi negara yang english bukan main language nya macam Jepun and Korea.Banyak pusat preparation yang JPA hantar pelajarnya, antaranya macam Jed,Intec,AAJ and etc.AAJ stands for Ambang Asuhan Jepun atau dikenali sebagai RPKJ,Rancangan Persediaan Khas Jepun.Yang AAJ ni plak dekat UM.After dua tahun preparation, lulus final exam yang dipanggil EJU baru boleh fly. Yyeeaayyy...!!!

Dekat AAJ ni tak mcm pusat preparation lain,memang khas untuk belajar engineering.First day daftar tu, Jpa akan buatkan card cimb korang untuk masukkan elaun and lepas tu ada orientation beberapa hari baru start belajar.Mula mula start belajar tu tak susah sangat, belajar basic nihonggo mcm hiragana and katakana,and hafal beratus kotoba(perkataan).Huahahaaha... Tunggu la korang hafal kanji nnt... memang banyak benda kena hafal.Dalam setahun mcm tu la belajar basic and masa tu subjek science still in english.Lepas tu bila naik second year, baru everything tukar in Japanese.Sangat challenging but still worth it opportunity dalam hidup.Susah dulu senang kemudian kan.Masa tu tergedik gedik lah cakap jepun keliling UM.huahaahahaa...

Masa preparation, buku,notes,everything memang JPA sediakn.Tinggal study and lulus exam je.Ada juga beberapa aktiviti menarik macam One Step to Japan,pergi lawat orang jepun yang tinggal and kerja di Malaysia,and even culture exchange dengan budak Jepun yang study dekat International School di Malaysia.Masa study mcm biasa la, pukul lapan hingga enam.Pakai baju kurung.Hohoho. Sensei semua baik and sangat membantu.Tak tahu just tanya and dieorang akan ajar sampai faham.

Silibus sini boleh kata almost sama dgn sekolah menengah Jepun sebab buku teks pun import Nihon.Ada test setiap minggu especially untuk nihonggo sebab kena hafal perkataan kan.Kalau subjek science tu tak kerap sangat exam tapi penting.Nanti last bila dah nak setahun setengah ada satu exam ni namanya EJU,nama yang semua budak nak fly ke Jepun geruni.Examnya agak challenging tapi kalau study elok dekat AAJ insyaallah lepas and boleh fly.Jangan ambil mudah sbb ada kes budak x lepas eju and tak boleh fly.Lepas tu pandai pandai la fikir nak study mana.So,don't waste the chance!!

Bila dah lepas exam Eju and final exam AAJ, boleh la rasa merdeka.Hihihi.. lepas tu still study tapi syllabus tak la berat.I told you AAJ ni memang bagus untuk persediaan ke Jepun.Bila result dah keluar and confirm siapa boleh fly, masa tu la hati memang berbunga bunga x sabar nak kemas bag ke Jepun.Haha.Aahh.. jangan lupa ada BTN,tu program jati diri selama seminggu yang wajib untuk semua rakyat Msia yang nk study dekat oversea.Selain tu ada hari graduate yang semua pakai cantik cantik untuk raikan kejayaan kerana layak ke jepun.

Nak ke AAJ ke Intec ke,Ibt ke,Jed ke... semua tu tak boleh pilih.Lepas korang mohon scholarship Jpa ke empat negara(Jepun,Korea,Jerman,Perancis)tu,korang duduk la diam diam tunggu Jpa yang tentukan korang ke mana ikut result SPM.Apa pun, jangan putus asa and cuba mohon sebab mana tahu ada rezeki kan.Nak info lebih boleh comment bawah, nnt akak balas.

Hari anugerah TOEIC

Pendek nye saye...~~ hoho..

Ni cerita lama, saje nak kenang balik.. huahahaha..~ ~

Best nya belajar dekat Jepun ni, kalau budak Msia datang sini memang terer Jepun even Sensei sini yang dah Phd pun kalah.. Hihihi.. Biasa budak Msia yang ryuugaku(study) sini, bila Toeic test , nanti masa hari anugerah Toeic mesti akan dapat tempat..bila kelas Eigo(English) mesti score la even tahap Uni pun english sini sangat senang.. ~

Dah dua kali dapat sijil Toeic .. Hohoho.. yang bestnya dapat Tosho card 5000yen.Okay, apa plak Tosho card tu?

Tosho card ni adalah sekeping card yang korang boleh guna dekat almost every bookstore.Boleh beli buku guna Tosho card tu.Tapi sedihnya, card tu x boleh guna untuk beli stationary ke benda lain sebab dekat Jepun, kedai bukunya x jual alat tulis langsung..!!! Huhuhu..~Tosho card ni ada banyak range price dia dlm 500 hingga ke 5000 yen.

And satu lagi, hari penyampaian hadiah dekat Jepun sangat lah simple and cepat.Macam drive thru plak..~ haha.. dalam satu jam je everything termasuk ucapan, penyampaian hadiah and sijil, photoshop semua beres..! Lagipun orang Jepun ni kan tepati masa, so x ada masalah orang datang lewat.Malu kite kena bagi ucapan masa hari tu.Semua orang la kena bagi ucapan.Kite cakap pasal blog ni.. huahahaha...~

　平成２８年度後学期（平成２８年１２月２３日（土）・平成２９年１月２１日（土））に実施された全学統一英語能力テスト（ＴＯＥＩＣ）の成績上位者に対する表彰式が，平成２９年６月１４日（水）に学生センター会議室にて行われた。表彰対象者は，成績上位１０名と，１年次前学期に受験したＴＯＥＩＣ成績と比較して今回の成績が著しく伸びた７名の計１４名。表彰式に出席した表彰対象者へ，滝澤全学教育機構長から「優秀賞」並びに「ジャンプアップ賞」として賞状と副賞の図書券が授与された。表彰後の懇談では，英語に関する思いを受賞者に一言ずつ述べてもらった。英語に親しみを感じるようになったきっかけは，「アメリカで働こうと思った」「大学入学後に海外に興味を持つようになった」など様々で，たいへん興味深かった。

　また，英語を聞くことが得意という学生からは，「ＹＯＵＴＵＢＥで英語の動画を見ている」「留学生とよく会話をしている」など，日常で英語に触れている様子を聞くことができた。懇談の最後に，列席された教員からお祝いと激励の言葉が贈られ，受賞者の今後の英語力向上へ大いに期待が寄せられた。

　なお，英語に対して苦手意識を持つ人へのアドバイスとして，以下のアイディアを受賞者から提供してもらうことができた。多くの学生の英語力向上につながることを期待したい。

• 英語の映画を字幕なしで，聞き取れない単語が聞き取れるようになるまで，何度も繰り返す。
• 日常生活の中に，英語を取り入れる。
• 多くの留学生と仲良くし，英語で色々なことを話す。
• 友達と英語で話す。
• 英文をよく読む。
• 自分にとって楽しく続けられる勉強法で，学習していく。
• 英語の本を読んでみる。

Program Hari Motivasi Jiko Kaihatsu No Hi [JPA 2016]

Assalammualaikum readers.. ~

 

Last Saturday, we had a great day listening to the motivations and had a good meal at the Kyushu University with the JPA officers.Tha day started around 9.50 a.m (do come early..!) and we begun with the opening and explanation about JPA's scholarship policy.We got a good explanation about the scholarship policy now and even the plans that we, Malaysian students can follow after graduating from university.Most interesting part was when we get to know about how concern the JPA are, and how great it will be as we JPA students are promised to have a good career and bright future if we score well until we graduate. What a relief...!Introductions about STAR company, TAPS, MIA and etc are all cleared and we got a good understanding about the scholarship policy now as there is a great issue where JPA now forbid the students to work in Japan after graduate and in my opinion that is a good and smart way to prevent brain drain :)

Next activity was the 'Set Vision,Set Target!' where the students will need to list out their missions in life for few terms, the problems they face everyday and most importantly the KPI(measurable solutions to the problems). We've heard some of the problems from other university students and compared them to our own problems.Then we have a yummy lunch which was so great..!

 

Then we had a session called The Voice where we're divided into groups and each group will be given tasks to share the member's opinions to others.Generally the idea of meeting the students is the JPA officers want to give a reminder about the responsibilities studying abroad and if there is any problem, then get a solution from the JPA.

 

 

Luckily, the accommodation costs will be paid by the JPA if you fill in the accommodation form with receipts.The whole day was informative and we got a great day wandering around the huge compound of Kyushu University..! :)

Saga University,Japan

Assalammualaikum yalls..

Recently,since most of our blog readers knew that we're both studying in Japan, some had been asking how's the universities in Japan look like.I can't figure out how the others in Japan look like because we've never been to other universities before, but Saga University, O-MA-KA-SE..! Let me tell you..!! :)
Tadaaaaa...

This is Saga University.It is so near to our apartment,takes us 3 minutes to get there by bike. Commonly known as Saga Dai (佐賀大) among the Japanese.Sadai for short.[bunyi mcm tersadai ... tp x tersadai ok.. -_-]. I don't want to spill out all the history and bla bla bla because it will be boring and a lot of space to do so.Just Google if you're interested in it's history.But.. but... but... let me tell you the interesting side of this little Uni.The compound is neither too big nor too small.All the department buildings are just in walking distance.Most of the students including us went on bike usually.I mean bike like bicycle.. not motorbike -_-..! We have bicycle lots more than car lots. And.. and.. and... having bells on bike's key is a very common thing here.Cute and secure..! We also have an alley which full of sakura trees. It is so beautiful around spring to see the Sakura bloom perfectly.

This is still considered few.Imagine hundreds
of bicycles when the class start.

Let's move on to the inner side of the building.In Japan, 'Save Earth' thing is a serious matter..!!! Most of the equipments and machines in our Uni are Eco friendly. What we got shocked at our first class was the board..! In Japan, we use blackboard.Yes.. i mean the board in dark green colour and the chalk with colourful colours. We don't use marker pens that much,so no whiteboards.Marker pens actually contains chemical that could damage the brain development by smelling the stinggy poisonous chemical marker smell in long term. I bet you must imagine how awful the chalk's dust floating around and getting your hands and clothes dirty right? Hey .. come on.. we're in Japan what..! No duster tapping, no dust flying around.We have a mini machine called National 330,that functioned to suck away the chalk's dust instantly from the duster...! We even have a sink to wash our hands after using chalk in classroom-_-.. And.... the sink is auto sensor -_-... i tell ya already.. Japan seriously great in engineering..~ Most of the electricity equipments like doors and lights in Sadai are fully equipped with auto sensor.It detects heat to function.So no one will give excuses for forgetting to turn off the switch.Save money save Earth..!! You can't find switch along the alley as the lamps are auto sensor.Not to mention,the airconditioner, every one and a half hour of study hour,it will automatically turn off and need to be turned on if you want to use it again.

Move on to the other parts,along the alley, you will see various of big assorted garbage bins labelled pet bottles,bottles and cans,plastics and breakable stuffs.Yup, that's the recycle box.Nope.. no dustbin in Japan..! and amazingly, you will find a small box around the big boxes.It's for the cap of bottles.In Japan, you must separate the pet bottles and the cap when recycle. -_-.. We have elevators which fully equiped with emergency button and there is always auto recorded voice to tell you what to be careful of,which floor you're heading to and etc.Yeah.. only in Japan.[Elevator dia bising tau..! -_-] Don't make me tell you about the toilets.. -_- Ok i wanna tell.. ~ The toilets here are equipped with washlets(bidets).. No pipes here..! The sinks are auto sensor even the flushes are auto sensor.It will flush automatically if you forgot to flush.And in Japan, you can flush tissues in the toilet bowl. If you do this in Malaysia, i bet it will stuck the toilet and stink after few days. -_-The toilets are so cleaned and always kept dry.However vending machine are not everywhere to educate students to bring own drinks and and to reduce the disposal of cans.

About grading, the grading system in Japan are much more higher,you need to get at least 60% from hundred to pass and there is no additional paperwork or something to help you to increase your marks.Fully based on examinations.You can join the clubs if you can balance it with studies but no credits for clubs.The main language medium basically in Japanese but we do have english class here.If you're an International student and have a good proficiency in English, it will be easy for you to pass the TOIEC test.Last time we got the 5000 yen Tosho card for our TOIEC award.If you score good in examinations, you'll can apply for extra credits on the next semester.In Japan,it is not common to use pens.Usually we use pencils when study or exam or anything.Yup.. no pens for examination.Rubber(eraser) is essential -_-.The way to mark a question in Japan is quite different from other countries.We don't mark the correct answer with 'right' signs but we use 'circle' signs to indicate the answer is correct -_-. And the 'right' sign are for wrong answer.. -_- Haha.. weird right?

Well that are basically what we had experienced after a year studying at Saga Dai.Now we are in 2nd year of Mechanical Engineering and we have two more years before we graduate here.. hihihi.. will do update more about life in Japan.
