What to prepare for winter?

Assalammualaikum :)

Hola peeps.. it's been long time as I hadn't post any entry since July :p Last summer holidays were fabulous and now the brain will need to get to work again as the new semester had just begun..!! It's fall now and everything around seems perfectly cool. We are enjoying the brownish fallen leaves and warm but a little bit chill temperature in Kyushu now but for another couple of weeks, winter is coming...!! and a lot of preparations.. I mean serious preparations are needed..~

In Japan actually winter starts from December to February. However, as early as November and as late as early April, we can already feel the chilly atmosphere,[depending where you live].Winter sometimes can be hard when temperatures drop constantly and when heavy snowfalls, omg.. trust me the little snows are not that friendly as they seem..! they're killing ..!! T__T . *SOBS*well, it’s always best to prepare for the worst right?

What to prepare?

1.Get a good comfy pair of socks, slippers, boots, ear muffs and gloves. Trust me.. you'll need these.. like REALLY NEED THESE..! Spend some money and get yourself a good socks and gloves so that you won't get shimoyake (kind like a minor frost bite) and Khairi had it before and we freaked out assuming he got some freaking rare skin disease. If you get some rashes(feeling itchy) especially at the palm hands or feet in winter, don't freak out like we did and head straight to the clinic to get doctor advises. I had all the handy items at one place [hanged perfectly in front of the genkan] to save time ;)

2.You might want to double up with thick curtains and seal your window nicely.I've read about the idea by insulating the windows using rolls of bubble wrap from 100 yen stores but i'm just too lazy. Lazy to spend too much money :p So, I just used up extra curtains and it worked well in handling the coldness.

3.Bring out the Kotatsu.Kotatsu is actually a small little table with a heater attached to it to keep you warm while sitting around it.If you don't have any kotatsu you can just use heater or maybe the electric carpet or blanket to heat you up.

4.Get a heattech undergarments at Universal Traveller or Uniqlo or Gu or etc.I know they cost much but trust me, it's worth it especially for those who used to live in a tropical country.

5.Stock up on Kairo. Kairo is actually the adhesive hot packs or pocket warmers that you can simply just keep in your pockets to help you to stay warm [poka poka] when your outside the house. They're cheap and abundance.

6.Maybe you can have Nabe(hot pot) night around with your peers to stay warm and spending the perfect cozy evening by enjoying the boiling soup while chit chatting ;) i'd done it once and it was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good..!!!!!

7.Treat yourself a good time by taking a long soak in the ofuro (bath) and calm down. Forget about the coldness outside and relax, pampering yourself for the good job you had done for the day..!

8.Hang out at the local mall or library might not be a bad idea. Hihi.. Studying at the library really helps in concentration... and help SAVE THE BILL -_-.. Hahaha.. Doesn't need to use much electric to heat up :p

9.Remember to fill up the pails with water.I've experienced no water supply when the heavy snowfalls as the water freezes and eventually, spending a day without bath -_-. Aaahh.. and plan your groceries too as many of the shops or markets or mini malls will not be open especially on oshougatsu (New Year)..!

10.Must check the weather when you're planning to travel somewhere so that you'll prepare well for your journey.Bring along umbrellas if there is heavy snowfalls. Keep intensive moisturizing lotions and lip balm in bag or pockets. The dry and icy temperature is not that good for your skin.

Hope that all these tips will be helpfull in preparing for the coming winter. Stay warm and get all those handy items quick before the winter surprises you.. !
